Pretty Peloponnese - A 4-Day Trip to Mystras, Sparta and Nafplio

A good day has come, the start of your road trip! Today you will leave Athens and drive south into the Peloponnese, which also is a great word for a spelling bee contest. You will drive along the coast and then more south towards a magical place called Mystras and finally end up in Sparta where you will spend the night. On your way, you will make several stops at fascinating sights. Please bear in mind that Greece can be cruelly hot in the summertime, so make sure you bring enough water and try to protect yourself from the sun by wearing a cap, hat or bandana. If you want to wear a t-shirt over your head that is fine too but make sure you have one to wear as well, because you have to be decently dressed (covered shoulders) to visit Mystras.

Do you know the movie? It has a famous scene where Gerard Butler screams in a thundering voice, 'This is Sparta!' But what is Sparta? You will discover that today! What is strange is the fact that despite many people knowing Sparta, which is famous for its harsh upbringing all to make everybody really strong and tough, the city itself isn't touristic at all. And that is not too bad because now you can still enjoy authentic Sparta (except for the violence, people are very friendly in this town). Also, it could have been my imagination, but I thought people in this town all looked pretty buffed.

Today is all about romance. Nafplio is the perfect place to celebrate love. Even if you are a happy single, this place is nice, because why not love yourself and treat yourself to a great day in this pretty place?

Today you will start your day with a good workout climbing 999 steps! Oh, no! But don't worry, you will get rewarded. After your climb, you can take it slow, with some chilling on different beaches and eating fresh fish in a tavern near the sea. Slowly, you will drive home to Athens, where you can sleep in your own bed again. Enjoy the last day of your trip to the fullest!
